South Fixed Site Area Supervisor

Description This position serves as the on‑site working lead for donor services staff, coordinating daily assignments and providing real‑time guidance, coaching, and operational support to staff. The role focuses on adherence to SOPs, safety standards, donor care expectations, and facilitating a supportive learning environment for new hires. The employee reports directly to the Fixed Site Manager and works closely with the Donor Services Fixed Site Area Supervisor to ensure coverage and mission achievement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Serve as the on‑site working lead for donor services staff, coordinating daily assignments and workflow. Ensure adequate staffing coverage and appropriate task distribution throughout the shift. Provide real‑time guidance, coaching, and operational support to donor services staff. Reinforce adherence to Suncoast Blood Centers SOPs, safety standards, and donor care expectations. Foster a supportive learning environment, provide hands‑on training, and serve as a role model demonstrating company values and professional conduct. Report directly to the Fixed Site Manager regarding any concerns, issues and adherence problems encountered. Monitor daily collections and reinforce individual collection goals for staff and per‑center matrix. Maintain FDA and AABB critical equipment logs and ensure completed documentation. Oversee the Bio‑Hazard documentation for the territory. Support staff schedule in the territory, manage call‑offs, and collaborate with the surrounding area supervisor to keep all areas filled as needed. Provide daily reports to the Fixed Site Manager from the territory. Assist the Management/Training Department in completing O‑Reports as needed. Offer constructive feedback to help new employees develop skills and confidence; monitor progress of mentees and collaborate with management to address training needs. Support onboarding and training of new staff by providing hands‑on guidance, modeling best practices, and reinforcing SOPs. Donor Flow, Productivity & Collection Support Monitor donor flow and operational conditions, adjusting staffing and tasks to maintain efficiency and donor satisfaction. Direct staff during downtime to complete outbound donor outreach, including appointment reminder calls, following department guidelines and approved scripts. Support the achievement of management‑established goals for concurrent product collections using apheresis devices, adjusting staff assignments as needed. Reinforce productivity expectations during low‑volume periods by redirecting staff to approved operational tasks. Quality, Safety & Compliance Ensure all donor services activities comply with FDA, AABB, and SunCoast Blood Centers policies and procedures. Identify and promptly report operational issues, donor concerns, equipment problems, or safety risks to management. Support accurate documentation and record‑keeping related to donor collections and center operations. Team Support & Communication Foster a professional, respectful, and donor‑focused team environment. Communicate operational updates, priorities, and expectations clearly to staff. Act as a point of contact between donor services staff and management during assigned shifts. Additional Responsibilities Maintain a clean, safe, and organized donor center environment. Participate in required meetings, training, and professional development activities. Perform other related duties as assigned to support SunCoast Blood Centers’ mission, vision, and values. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift or move materials weighing up to 40 pounds. Manual dexterity for phlebotomy and computer‑based documentation. Environmental Requirements Work performed in a donor center clinical environment. Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens; appropriate PPE required. Qualifications Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferred qualifications are a minimum of two (2) years of experience in donor services, phlebotomy, healthcare operations, or a related field, and six (6) months of supervisory or lead experience. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Working knowledge of donor center operations and blood collection procedures. Ability to provide direction, guidance, and support to staff in a fast‑paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem‑solving skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain workflow efficiency. Basic computer skills, including electronic documentation systems. Licenses / Certifications Valid Florida Driver’s License and a driving record that meets SunCoast Blood Centers’ insurability requirements.
