Equine Hospital Stable Hand
Fairfield Equine Associates is seeking a dependable and hardworking Equine Hospital Stable Hand to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized hospital environment while providing daily care and support for our equine patients.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working around horses, takes pride in maintaining a clean facility, and can work independently while following veterinary instructions and hospital protocols.
Schedule (can be divided):
Monday-Sunday: 6am to 9am and 4pm to 7pm
Responsibilities
- Hand-walk hospitalized horses as directed by the veterinary team
- Feed and water horses according to individual patient instructions
- Clean and maintain stalls, aisles and treatment areas
- Restock hay, grain, bedding/shavings, and other hospital supplies
- Drag and maintain the arena
- Maintain an organized and safe work environment
- Follow all hospital safety procedures and patient-care protocols
- Perform other stable and hospital duties as needed
Qualifications
- Previous horse-handling and equine experience required
- Comfortable handling horses of varying temperaments and sizes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Must be comfortable with physically demanding work, including lifting at least 50 lbs.
- Experience in a veterinary or hospital setting is a plus, but not required
