General/Orthopedic Surgical Physician Assistant-Northern Massachusetts-No Call

A well-established community-based health system in Northern Massachusetts is seeking a full-time Surgical Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join its growing surgical team. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced surgeons in both general surgery and orthopedic surgery within a busy hospital setting.

This role is ideal for a Physician Assistant who enjoys a hands-on surgical practice, values collaboration, and is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care to diverse communities.

Position Highlights

• Full-time, 40 hours per week

• Monday through Friday schedule

• No call responsibilities

• Inpatient and Emergency Department coverage only

• First-assist opportunities in both general and orthopedic surgery

Responsibilities

• Perform surgical tasks such as suturing, wound closure, hemostasis, and tissue retraction

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging

• Manage postoperative care and monitor recovery progress

• Conduct daily patient rounds

• Evaluate and manage acute surgical patients in the inpatient and emergency department settings

• Collaborate closely with surgeons and multidisciplinary care teams

• Participate in discharge planning and follow-up care coordination

• Document patient encounters and treatment plans within the electronic medical record

Qualifications

• NCCPA certification required

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications

• Eligible for licensure in Massachusetts

• Surgical experience in general surgery and/or orthopedic surgery

Compensation and Benefits:

• $68.00 – $86.00 per hour
