Project Manager 1

Overview Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven Project Manager to join our culture. You will be responsible for all aspects of assigned projects, including planning, scheduling, directing, application engineering, budgeting and procurement, as well as managing field installation, start-up, and close-out of assigned projects. You will ensure projects are executed within budget and schedule, and you will act as the key interface with the customer to maximize satisfaction, safety, and quality assurance. This role offers growth as Convergint grows. Locations Louisville, Kentucky What you’ll do Manage multiple aspects of assigned projects (typically valued up to $1M) from award through completion, including overall site management, installation planning, and adherence to budget and schedule. Prepare project installation plans, manage plans, and implement job procedures. Translate customer needs into detailed proposals and project implementation plans; review and approve estimated costs prior to bid; participate in project contract negotiations; provide technical assistance to sales as required; supervise design engineering and installation labor and subcontractors; prepare project schedules, subcontracts, change orders, and project invoices; assist with collections on projects. Communicate project requirements clearly to the project team and maintain up-to-date records of job status, changes, material flow, and other control records for internal and external reporting. Act as the customer’s trusted service provider and ensure Convergint is the preferred service partner. Identify potential project risks and develop strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from cost estimates and deadlines. Proactively communicate project schedules and change proposals to the customer and seek opportunities to improve satisfaction. Manage procurement of materials, supplies, services, and controls to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion within budget. Establish project milestones, analyze costs, and use financial data to produce timely cost reports; adjust plans as necessary to meet financial goals. Manage the execution and review of all scope of work, terms and conditions in customer contracts, including cost control, delivery, quality standards, and service requirements. Oversee direct reports where applicable and manage subcontractor selection and work as required. Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required. What You’ll Need Project management experience in a technical environment (building automation systems, fire alarm systems, electronic security systems, and AV systems). Coaching, mentoring, and staff development skills; strong leadership orientation and ability to mentor others. Team leadership, team building, and facilitation skills. Initiative and proactive behavior; ability to influence others and build consensus with strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with solid conflict resolution skills. Financial analytical skills including cost control. Ability to facilitate a collaborative working environment for customers and team members. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; basic IT networking principles. An associates degree in Engineering or related field is noted as part of the requirements. Minimum Experience: 3 years relevant engineering, field service, or project management. Preferred Experience (not required): Experience in one or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, building automation, and/or AV systems Previous project supervisory experience Certifications & Licenses: PMI certification; industry-specific certifications/licenses; valid driver’s license with clean driving record Convergint is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
