Retail Regional Manager

General Function The Regional Manager has full responsibility and accountability for the sales and service productivity, operations and customer experience of a group of Financial Center and/or Bank Mart locations. The Regional Manager engages a group of Financial Center and/or Bank Mart locations to promote business growth through the development of deposits, assets, fee‑based services and the development and retention of new and existing consumer and business customers. The Regional Manager is accountable to regularly evaluate employee performance, provide challenging opportunities that enhance career growth, develop the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate staffing and succession planning, and reward employees for their accomplishments. The Regional Manager is responsible for risk management, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and fostering a positive customer experience while operating within the bank’s risk appetite. Sales / Goals Function Manage the sales function for the assigned region and coach team members, setting a collaborative sales environment. Lead defined sales and service processes using consultative skills and appropriate tools to proactively identify customer financial needs and recommend suitable solutions. Ensure consistent communication regarding individual, job family, and Financial Center goals and hold staff accountable for results. Review and evaluate branch activity reports—staffing, loans, deposits, overdrafts, charge‑offs, and audits—to meet regional profit and performance objectives. Participate in overall profit operations, setting and attaining a profit plan and controlling operating expenses. Identify and notify opportunities for business development within the region. Assist Financial Centers with loan processing, evaluating applications, and making approvals or rejections within assigned authority. Participate in community activities to develop and strengthen regional relationships. Maintain confidentiality of customer business in accordance with core values. Build collaborative relationships with supporting partners to provide a holistic assessment of customer financial needs. Inspects documentation and reports necessary for effective regional management, including household reports, financial center P&L, financial needs assessments, credit queues, and dashboards. Respond to customer inquiries and service issues in a timely manner, generally within 24 hours. Manager / HR Function Understand the staffing model and use appropriate tools to adhere to the Financial Center staffing plan. Establish and facilitate regular sales and staff meetings, promoting participation of all Financial Center Managers and Business Partners when appropriate. Ensure staff receives proper training to sell, cross‑sell, and refer as needed to meet sales productivity goals. Apply bank policies and SOPs consistently across all Financial Center Managers. Identify questionable actions, inefficiencies, and problems, and pursue resolution. Resolve staffing issues in collaboration with HR partners and follow established procedures. Take timely action for non‑performance, involving management or partners as necessary. Create a culture that attracts, retains, and develops a team that values diverse perspectives and encourages active participation. Recruit talent for open positions and develop successors as roles arise. Onboard new employees promptly, providing materials, mentoring, and appropriate onboarding support. Recognize and reward employee accomplishments in a timely manner. Ensure continuous education of policies and procedures for compliance. Provide candid and constructive feedback to employees. Support employee development through knowledge enhancement opportunities. Model ethical behavior in accordance with the Bancorp Code of Business Conduct and Ethics. Maintain security controls to protect bank assets and ensure team compliance. Apply operational policies and procedures to deliver a quality experience for Fifth Third customers. Supervisory Responsibilities Provide timely, candid, constructive feedback and assist employees to reach their full potential. Recognize and reward achievements. Develop the talent pool to maintain bench strength and support succession planning. Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Safe Act registration at the time of employment via the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). Professional image and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in reading and writing for effective oral and written communication. In‑depth knowledge of retail policies and procedures, typically acquired with at least five years of retail banking management experience. Extensive product knowledge to meet expected selling and cross‑selling performance. Leadership ability to establish oneself as a leader and be recognized by others.
