# Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – North Carolina**Start Date:** September 7, 2026 **Location:** Western North Carolina **Compensation:** Details provided to qualified applicants **Schedule:** Every other weekend required; holiday rotation; no on-call requirements; 12-hour shifts**Highlights:** - 40-bed Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit focused on ED decompression and enhanced throughput- Patient ratios of 1:5 for Step-Down patients; 1:6 for Med-Surg patients; 1:5 for combined day and night shifts- Cerner electronic medical record system; Baxter IV pumps- Fast-paced environment caring for patients with diverse diagnoses from telemetry (remote), Step-Down (PCU), and Med-Surg backgrounds- Floating opportunities to other units within skill set; additional opportunities available in CMU Telemetry Unit and ED Transport roles- Extension requests are common among travel nurses, with several staying multiple years**Requirements:** - Active RN license in good standing- Minimum 2 years recent experience in Med-Surg, Telemetry (remote), and Step-Down (PCU) level care- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required- Charge Nurse experience or willingness to develop leadership skills appreciated- Positive attitude with strong focus on teamwork and collaboration**Why It's a Great Opportunity:** This unit is designed to receive admitted patients from the ED, complete admission assessments, perform medication reconciliation, and initiate acute care orders—all to reduce overall length of stay and enhance the patient and family experience.
