RN Step Down

An RN in a Step Down Unit is a licensed registered nurse who provides care for patients who require close monitoring but are stable enough to transition out of intensive care. They manage patients with complex conditions such as cardiac, respiratory, or post-surgical recovery, often requiring continuous monitoring and specialized treatments. Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring vital signs, interpreting telemetry data, and responding to changes in patient condition. Step Down RNs work closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to support recovery and prevent complications, playing a key role in bridging care between the ICU and general medical units.
