Clinical Nurse – Circulating Operating Room Position Details Department: PCH-NW | Surgery Main Location: Glendale Shift: Days vary, 8am-5pm Category: Nursing Posting #: 818417 Employee Type: Varies Position Summary Phoenix Children’s is hiring full‑time Operating Room Nurses for the Arrowhead Hospital, located at 67th Avenue/Glendale. As a Circulating Operating Room nurse you will provide nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age‑appropriate care circulating in the operating room. You will work alongside surgeons, anesthesiologists, techs, and nurses in a state‑of‑the‑art community hospital surgery department. This position requires a minimum of one year circulating nurse experience (pediatric preferred) or Periop 101 training, and a passion for working with a pediatric population. Specialty areas include general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, urology, ENT, and GI. New grads will not be considered. Position Duties Completes nursing assessment of patient conditions consistent with age and condition, including physical, psychological, social, developmental, and educational factors, to determine initial level of compliance with treatment plan per policy and unit guidelines. Performs ongoing patient and family assessments and identifies variations from diagnoses. Continually evaluates patient responses to care, teaching, and discharge plans. Documents patient progress in appropriate charts and shares observations and assessment outcomes with healthcare team and families to ensure timely communication and understanding of patient health status, progress, and ongoing needs. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing required activities within established parameters to ensure compliance with all applicable medication, storage and documentation standards, regulations, and requirements. Provides orientation to the unit, hospital systems, and processes to patients and family members to ensure familiarity with unit’s policies and requirements. Supervises patient care activities of assigned team members and delegates activities appropriate to knowledge, skill, and competency. Provides timely feedback and review of care delivery to ensure maintenance of patient safety, infection control procedures, therapeutic environment, and team members’ performance level, maintaining confidentiality as appropriate. Works collaboratively with patient care team and family members to establish and implement plan of care to ensure coordination of activities and ongoing communication of patient health status. Participates in patient care rounds and patient care conferences as appropriate. Fosters a positive learning environment by modeling best practices and patient-centered care while providing guidance, training, and support to students and new employees through mentorship, clinical instruction, and knowledge sharing. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested. Position Qualifications Two‑year (ADN) degree in nursing, a four‑year degree (BSN) in nursing, or a Diploma Nursing degree. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or be currently enrolled in an RN to BSN program. Current Arizona RN license, or an RN license from a compact state with multi‑state privileges, or ability to establish licensure according to Arizona law prior to start date. Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association prior to start date. Ped Advanced Life Support – required.
