ECMO Specialist - Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)The ECMO Specialist will play a crucial role in managing patients requiring Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) therapy. This position requires specialized skills and experience in adult critical care and advanced airway management, and the successful candidate will work primarily night shifts with occasional day shift coverage as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide care and management for patients requiring ECMO therapy.Assist with airway management procedures including intubation and extubation.Perform necessary patient assessments, including interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs).Manage various medication delivery systems and adjust treatments as indicated.Utilize advanced ventilator management techniques including BiPAP, CPAP, and SIMV.Implement pulmonary hygiene practices and assist in bronchoscopy procedures as required.Demonstrate proficiency in emergency response, especially in scenarios involving respiratory distress or failure.QualificationsMinimum of 2 years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).At least 1 year of experience as an ECMO Specialist is required; first-timers with minimum experience may be considered.Certification in ACLS, BLS, PALS, and a valid state license are required.Extensive experience in adult critical care and management of complex respiratory conditions.Demonstrated competency in performing arterial punctures and managing airway devices.Strong knowledge of medication administration including inhaled therapies and nebulizers.Ability to float within the facility's scope as needed.Work ScheduleThis position offers a 3x12-hour night shift schedule (18:30 - 07:00) with the expectation of working every other weekend. Candidates should be open to discussing scheduling preferences with management.Mandatory Skills/ExperienceEndotracheal tube placement and management, various airway suctioning techniques.Thorough understanding of ECMO protocols and patient care.Experience with advanced oxygen therapy modalities including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).Ability to troubleshoot ventilator settings and alarms effectively.Additional RequirementsCandidates must be based more than 100 miles from the facility to qualify.
