Vice President - Strategic Advisory (Power, Utilities & Renewables) (New York)

PJT Partners is a global advisory‑focused investment bank that provides strategic advisory, shareholder advisory, restructuring and special situations, and private fund advisory and placement services to corporations, financial sponsors, institutional investors and governments worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, structure, and recommend financial and strategic alternatives, including analysis of mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic combinations, asset sales, and divestitures.
• Lead the day‑to‑day execution of transactions, including due diligence, valuation analysis, and negotiating contracts and other agreements; work with senior management and coordinate associate/analyst materials.
• Analyze financial data and market developments relevant to PJT Partners’ business.
• Conduct research of target industries for investment purposes.
• Perform valuation analysis of prospective investment opportunities, assessing financial risks.
• Compare a company’s financial data with that of similar companies in the same industry, size, and location against industry trend forecasts.
• Design and develop quantitative models to assess the economic performance of target companies.
• Prepare written analysis and evaluations of investment opportunities for use by PJT Partners management and clients.
• Participate in internal and external client meetings, negotiate contracts and other agreements, and conduct due diligence sessions.

We seek candidates with knowledge of and interest in the power, utilities and renewable energy industry; this role is specifically within PJT’s Power, Utilities & Renewables Group in Strategic Advisory.

Qualifications

• Highly motivated, intelligent, proven self‑starter with strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to write effectively.
• Interest in areas outside of work and a desire to work in a team environment.
• Strong background in finance/accounting.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 5 years of investment banking experience.

Compensation

Expected annualized base salary of $250,000 to $300,000, based on level, scope, location, and qualifications. Base salary is one component of PJT Partners’ compensation structure and may include additional rewards, incentives, and benefits, including a discretionary bonus component.
