Program Planner 2 - Monitoring SpecialistThe Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, solution-oriented, and enthusiastic professional to join our regulatory department and serve as a Program Planner 2 - Monitoring Specialist within our Licensing Division at our central office at 6200 Park Avenue, near Valley Junction in Des Moines, Iowa.DIAL's mission is Achieve Compliance through Education, Regulation, and Due Process for a Safe and Healthy Iowa. Our goal is to be an effective, efficient and approachable regulatory agency. To accomplish our Mission, the individual selected for this position will become an integral part of the Monitoring bureau by ensuring compliance with board disciplinary orders in the division.DIAL is a multifaceted regulatory agency charged with protecting the health, safety, and well-being of Iowans, and is comprised of eight core operational divisions: Administrative Hearings, Building & Construction, Health & Safety, Investigations, Labor/OSHA, Licensing, Workers' Compensation, and Administration.The successful candidate for this fast-paced position is a motivated, organized, and detail-focused individual. Applicants should have a proven track record of completing tasks within specified timeframes, sound judgment and decision-making ability, and have a desire to learn rules for various professions.Desired skills and abilities include:Ability to gain a strong working knowledge of all statutes, administrative rules, and professional standardsGreat attention to detail and a high level of organizational skillExcellent written and oral communication skillsExperience working with diverse populations in a team environmentCommitment to providing high-quality serviceDisplays high standards of professional and ethical conductWhat You'll Do:Independently serve as the monitoring specialist for the Professional Licensing Division's monitoring program for assigned professions in collaboration with the program coordinator.Maintain regular contact with respondents. Use independent judgement, knowledge, and decision-making to determine whether a respondent has violated the terms of a disciplinary order. Discuss noncompliance issues with respondents orally and in writing to devise a plan of action to regain compliance.Serve as the intermediary between the board and respondents.
