Position Summary

The Dental Assistant is an entry-level clinical team member who supports the safe and efficient delivery of patient care through operatory readiness, instrument sterilization, and basic chairside assistance under direct supervision. This role serves providers and patients by maintaining a clean, organized, and fully prepared clinical environment throughout the day. The core purpose is to build foundational clinical skills, support smooth daily operations, and contribute to a team culture grounded in safety, quality, and consistent patient flow.

Core Responsibilities

Level I: Foundational clinical tasks performed under direct provider supervision; entry-level trainee scope.

Clinical Support & Chairside Assistance

• Set up and break down operatories before and after each patient appointment, ensuring rooms are clean, properly stocked, and fully prepared for each procedure.
• Assist providers with basic chairside procedures under direct supervision, including instrument passing, maintaining a clear operative field, and managing patient comfort.
• Escort patients to and from treatment areas and prepare them for appointments in a professional and welcoming manner.
• Support efficient patient flow throughout the day by anticipating room turnover needs and minimizing transition time between appointments.

Infection Control & Safety

• Perform instrument cleaning, packaging, and sterilization in strict accordance with infection control protocols, manufacturer guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain organization and inventory of clinical supplies and notify the appropriate team member when restocking is needed.
• Comply with all infection control, OSHA, and HIPAA standards consistently and without exception.

Professionalism & Development

• Participate actively in team training, onboarding programs, and continuing education to develop clinical competency and earn required certifications.
• Maintain a professional, dependable, and team-oriented presence in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Education & Qualifications

Required Experience

• Ability to maintain a professional, dependable, and team-oriented presence in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Required Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Licensure & Certifications

• Radiology and EFDA

Preferred:

• Enrollment in or completion of a dental assisting program or vocational training course.
• Prior experience in a healthcare, clinical, or service-oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail, personal accountability, and a proactive, coachable attitude.
