Senior eDiscovery Project Manager Location: Houston, Texas (Hybrid) Travel: Up to 20% Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree Job Type: Full Time Summary This position manages eDiscovery engagements with law firms, in‑house legal teams and third‑party service providers associated with litigation, investigations, information governance, and cyber security response. It is responsible for oversight of workflows, schedules, ESI protocol compliance, and coordination of resources to successfully complete required deliverables for each engagement accurately and within budget. Essential Job Functions The Project Manager provides highest quality customer support to external clients using best practices and technology. The Project Manager interacts with law firm and corporate legal department clients daily making project level decisions on design, process, implementation, security and maintenance of client databases. The Project Manager will have heavy interaction with clients including training, project design, database set up, and overall data and process management for the life of the project. Tasks include follow‑through on all client requests, including data loading/processing QC, search requests, document productions, and overall management of project level document databases. The highest quality customer service is a must, along with the ability to ensure compliance with case specifications, tracking schedules, and submission of routine status reports. Duties And Responsibilities Manage multiple projects and changing priorities in a dynamic, fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment under strict deadlines. Make important recommendations and decisions on planning, designing, developing and deploying litigation support/e‑discovery technology solutions. Work independently and as a member of a cross‑functional team, offering mentorship to other team members. Engage with all levels of users, including partners, associates, paralegals, support staff, clients, co‑counsel, opposing counsel and vendors. Maintain high performance, quality and quantity of work, attendance, punctuality, and dependability. Self‑motivate to learn existing and new software applications, processes and their fit with hardware platforms. Apply logical, mechanical, and common‑sense skills to solve or narrow down hardware and software problems. Propose project level technology solutions to clients by maximizing existing software and implementing new technologies. Conduct project design meetings with client legal teams to determine requirements, scope, timing, and budgeting support; prepare meeting summaries, coding instructions, status reports and training materials. Keep abreast of trends in the litigation support/e‑discovery space. Advise clients on database customization, implementation, and security set‑up. Manage co‑counsel and opposing vendors to ensure high‑quality data deliverables and services within negotiated schedules and budgets; review deliverables before delivery. Coordinate all aspects of individual cases: maintain project plans, define tasks, estimate time, establish QA systems, liaise between internal team and clients. Provide data management services: loading data, creating deliverables, building production subsets, data conversions. Assist with coordination and management of data for trial use. Provide ongoing user support via telephone, online, and office visits; assist attorneys, paralegals, legal secretaries with project needs; develop technical documentation. Educate users about process/software through training, roundtables, product demos, and email content; prepare and customize training documentation. Supervisory Responsibility May lead a team of peers for engagements requiring multiple PMs due to volume or geographic restrictions. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field (J.D. preferred). 5+ years of experience in IT consulting in a law firm, eDiscovery solutions company, or related professional services environment. Highly organized and detail oriented. Experience managing eDiscovery databases (Reveal software required). Experience with Relativity software a plus. Experience with collection of electronically stored information a plus. Ability to combine legal knowledge of attorneys and paralegals with IT technical skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions to solve practical problems. Ability to consult on preservation and collection of data according to Federal Rules. Ability to read discovery requests and translate into searches. Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, write complex correspondence. Ability to present e‑discovery information in one‑on‑one or small group situations and set expectations with legal teams and clients. Ability to work independently under time constraints and deadlines with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, provide superior internal client service, and deliver under pressure in a team environment. Uses standard office equipment and digital platforms. Requires use of software systems to manage projects, assign support requests, bill tasks, track time, and organize duties. May involve travel up to 30%. Physical Demands Regular use of keyboard, mouse or touch pad, monitor while sitting for several hours daily. Occasional standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 20 pounds. Regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, and service/software providers via phone, email, and video conferencing during normal business hours and occasionally extended hours near deadlines.
