Location: Millport, AL 35576 / Columbus, MS Area Pay: $22.00–$44.00 per hour, depending on experience Schedule: 4-day workweek | 1st & 2nd Shift Opportunities Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly About the Opportunity TIG Welder – Aerospace Manufacturing Location: Millport, AL 35576 / Columbus, MS Area Pay: $22.00–$44.00 per hour, depending on experience Schedule: 4-day workweek | 1st & 2nd Shift Opportunities Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly About the Opportunity We are seeking experienced TIG Welders to join a precision aerospace and defense manufacturing operation in Columbus, Mississippi , conveniently located for candidates commuting from the Millport, Alabama area. This is an excellent opportunity for welders experienced with GTAW/TIG welding, thin-wall materials, precision fabrication, and specialty metals . Compensation ranges from $22–$44 per hour and will be determined based on the candidate's welding background, certifications, materials experience, and overall skill level. Candidates with aerospace or defense welding experience are strongly preferred, particularly those familiar with AWS D17.1 , exotic alloys, tight tolerances, and precision welding applications. Schedule The standard schedule is a 4/10 workweek , consisting of four 10-hour shifts.

1. st Shift: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
2. nd Shift: 4:30 PM – 3:00 AM

30-minute lunch Openings may be assigned to either 1st or 2nd shift depending on production needs. A rotating Friday/Saturday weekend schedule is currently in place. Due to current production demands, technicians are presently working 12-hour weekday shifts with significant overtime expected through December . Please note: Work schedules, hours, weekend requirements, and overtime are based on production needs and are not guaranteed. They may increase, decrease, or change depending on workload. What You'll Do Perform precision GTAW/TIG welding on aerospace and defense components. Weld materials including aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and other exotic alloys . Perform precision welding on thin-wall materials, typically ranging from approximately .020" to .125" . Produce welds requiring tight dimensional tolerances, including approximately ±.005"–.030" or better . Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, weld maps, GD&T, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) . Set up and operate TIG welding equipment, fixtures, jigs, and other tooling used to control heat and distortion. Work with orbital or chamber welding equipment when required. Monitor weld parameters and heat input to maintain dimensional and metallurgical requirements. Perform fitting, grinding, measuring, and other precision fabrication activities. Support weld inspection processes including visual inspection, FPI, and X-ray/NDT requirements. Accurately document welding parameters, inspection results, and production information. Work closely with Engineering and Quality teams to troubleshoot and improve welding processes. Assist with weld schedule development and validation. Support customer and NADCAP audit requirements. Maintain a clean and organized work area while following 5S, PPE, and plant safety requirements. What We're Looking For Previous GTAW/TIG welding experience in a precision manufacturing environment. Aerospace, defense, aviation, or similarly high-tolerance welding experience strongly preferred. Experience welding thin-wall materials . Experience working with aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, or similar specialty alloys. Ability to read and understand blueprints, GD&T, weld symbols, and WPS documentation . Experience working to tight dimensional and quality tolerances. Strong understanding of heat input, weld distortion, and welding metallurgy. Ability to use precision measurement equipment including calipers and micrometers . Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently perform precise manual work. High school diploma or GED required; technical welding education or equivalent hands‑on experience preferred. Preferred Certifications & Experience Experience or certification involving any of the following is highly desirable: AWS D17.1 Aerospace Welding AWS Certified Aerospace Welder NAVSEA welding standards or certifications DoD welding requirements NADCAP-controlled manufacturing environments Orbital welding Chamber welding Aerospace or defense quality systems NDT inspection processes Candidates who do not currently hold every preferred certification may still be considered based on their overall TIG welding experience and demonstrated skill level. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and position materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. Ability to weld in multiple positions, including vertical and overhead. Ability to stand, bend, position components, grind, fit, and perform detailed manual work throughout the shift. Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment while using required PPE. Compensation $22.00–$44.00 per hour Pay is based on welding experience, technical ability, certifications, aerospace/defense background, materials experience, and demonstrated precision welding skills. Experienced aerospace TIG welders with strong thin-wall, exotic-alloy, and AWS D17.1 backgrounds may qualify toward the higher end of the range.
