Ceded Reinsurance Manager

The Role

Support the Head of Ceded Reinsurance in the placement, implementation and ongoing management of ceded reinsurance programs for Canopius US, ensuring effective protections are secured and maintained in line with the company’s strategic objectives.

Act as a key referral point for US ceded reinsurance matters, coordinating the reinsurance purchasing process from development of placing information through to execution, documentation and operational implementation. The role is responsible for maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, supporting clear understanding of ceded reinsurance arrangements across the business and providing oversight of effective treaty operations.

Work closely with Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Actuarial, Exposure Management, brokers and reinsurers to support the effective operation, governance and ongoing management of reinsurance purchases.

Responsibilities

• Play a leading role in the US reinsurance purchasing process, including the preparation and distribution of placing information, coordination of the placement process, and maintenance of accurate records.

• Collaborate with and contribute to the global reinsurance program strategies and placements and to support global head of Ceded in their broader role.

• Provide oversight of the processes required to support the effective operation and management of ceded reinsurance treaties.

• Propose and implement improvements and efficiencies in Canopius’ ceded reinsurance processes.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Actuarial, and Exposure Management.

• Work with internal teams to ensure ceded reinsurance programs are clearly understood and accurately reflected in relevant business processes, systems and reporting.

• Coordinate responses to external information requests from brokers and reinsurers, liaising with relevant internal departments as required.

• Review CUSI ceded reinsurance contract documentation prior to purchase to support accuracy, completeness and alignment with agreed terms.

• Manage ad hoc ceded reinsurance projects as required.

Skills and Qualifications

• Extensive experience within the reinsurance market, with a strong understanding of ceded reinsurance placement, treaty management and related operational processes.

• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.

• Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret data and support informed decision-making.

• Proficient IT skills, including the ability to work effectively with data, systems and reporting tools.

• Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain ceded reinsurance matters clearly to a range of stakeholders.

• Strong attention to detail, with a high level of technical discipline and accuracy.

• Clear and transparent communicator, with a proven ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

• Strong interpersonal skills, with an approachable, professional and solutions-focused style.

• Collaborative team player with a positive, proactive and pragmatic approach.

Salary Range: $115,000 - $150,000
