HealthTrust Workforce Solutions HCA is seeking a travel nurse RN PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care for a travel nursing job in Summerville, South Carolina.

Unit Specifics:

• Number of Beds : 6

• Patient Ratios : Dependent on acuity; 1:1, 1:3

• Unit staffing description- (unit secretaries and tech availability) : 2 RN's minimum

• Type of equipment : Central monitoring, Alaris pumps

• Documentation system: Meditech

• Scheduling requirements: 12 hr nightshifts x3, rotating weekends

• Floating policy: Lev 2 nursery or Well nursery for baby assignment (Census has been full for several months)

• Patient Experience requirements: Focus now is teamwork; Bedside shift report an expectation

Hiring profile

Requested Skill Set: PICU including experience with ventilators

Must have

Provide age-appropriate care to children admitted in pediatrics

Advanced skills needed:

• Obtain patients' histories and ensure that they are filed properly

• Consult with doctors and members of healthcare teams to comprehend patients' medical issues and evaluate and implement care plans

• Monitor patients' vitals such as blood pressure, heart rate, and breathing and initiative corrective action on an immediate basis

• Follow cardiac and respiratory monitor readings such as EKG and O2 stats and communicate observations to doctors on duty

• Track urine output and insert catheters and start IVs

• Administer infusions and monitor special equipment such as ventilators to assess patients' conditions

Procedures performed on unit:

• IV placement

• Assist with lumbar punctures

• Assist with bedside sedation for I&D's

• Assisting with intubation and central line placements

Certifications Required:

BLS, PALS
