Experience Consultant

Experience Consultant Charcoalblue is seeking an Experience Consultant to oversee the design of our client’s event spaces in the San Francisco Bay Area and across the United States. The role involves managing projects from fixed seated auditoria to adaptable facilities for product launches, gala dinners, and networking events. Key Responsibilities Oversee client requirements and design of event and experience spaces for a major global organization. Act as the main point of contact for event operations teams, AV project managers, and architectural design teams to ensure accurate communication among all parties. Participate in design team meetings, providing subject‑matter expert advice to guide the project. Collaborate with client and external partners while balancing diverse team priorities. Ensure architectural design is optimized for overall guest and user experience. Represent Charcoalblue as an ambassador to clients. Collaborate with developers, placemaking experts, and urban design professionals to develop innovative event spaces. Typical Duties Review design team information and ensure suitability of all systems for events production spaces. Attend regular meetings to review project progress. Develop client requirements documentation and produce briefs for the architectural design team. Assist the external project manager and client with document management and reporting tools. Provide best‑practice documentation and design comparatives for different event spaces. Communicate potential pain points to the client and project manager. Support the project manager and client’s events team on development and design projects. Ensure all client team members are engaged in each appropriate project phase. Maintain and distribute necessary documentation to keep project phasing on track. Qualifications & Key Skills Minimum five (5) years of relevant design or design management experience, or a formal qualification/degree in architecture, interior design, venue design, or a related field. Professional experience in the design or construction of spaces related to the performing arts, events, experiential, or hospitality strongly preferred. Background in architecture or interior design preferred. Strong visual, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to think outside the box. Practical understanding of AIA design stages and typical information requirements at each stage. Competence in presenting imagery and drawings to convey ideas. Experience in theatre, performing arts, or event space buildings. Vision, leadership, and strategic skills to prioritize evolving initiatives. Understanding of permitting processes, construction terminology, and building systems. Ability to steer decision making and process and to read construction drawings and specifications. Collaborative and personal approach, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure, and adapt to changing business needs. Work Hours & Location 40 hours per week on an at‑will, non‑exempt basis. The role is based in a distributed hybrid model; you will work from home, travel within the US, and may travel internationally for projects and team building with advance notice. Bonus plan participation after the three‑month probationary period, subject to company performance. Regular check‑ins with line manager. Salary & Start Date Salary range: $91,800 – $117,000 per year.
