Program Associate

Program Associate – Elections & Government Program Location: Washington, DC (Local candidates preferred) Schedule: Hybrid/onsite with evening support availability required Our client is seeking a Program Associate to provide administrative, research, and operational support for a mission-driven team focused on public policy, government, and civic engagement initiatives. This role is ideal for a highly organized professional with strong writing skills, attention to detail, and an interest in research, government, legal, nonprofit, or public affairs work. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, coordinating projects, supporting senior-level staff, conducting research, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. Candidates must be local to the Washington, DC area and able to provide evening support as needed. Please note: This role requires the ability to be available for remote support in the evenings until approximately 7:00 PM, including responding to emails, Slack messages, and other operational requests. Candidates should include their approximate commute time to Washington, DC when applying. Key Responsibilities Provide administrative and operational support to program leadership and team members. Manage calendars, scheduling, travel arrangements, expense reports, invoices, and team logistics. Coordinate internal and external meetings, including scheduling, preparing materials, taking notes, and tracking follow-up items. Support project planning, tracking, prioritization, and reporting to ensure deadlines are met. Assist with research, advocacy, publications, and other program initiatives. Conduct research using legal, academic, and news sources; summarize findings and support written materials. Draft and proofread memos, presentations, reports, talking points, correspondence, and other communications. Support preparation of organizational materials through fact‑checking, citation review, and editing. Communicate professionally with internal teams and external stakeholders. Assist with cross‑functional initiatives and special projects as needed. Maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail. Required Qualifications 1+ years of professional experience in administration, research, government, nonprofit, legal, public policy, or related fields. Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills. Strong research abilities with experience summarizing complex information. Exceptional organization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and anticipate needs. Comfortable collaborating with individuals at all levels of an organization. Strong interpersonal skills and professional communication style. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting government, nonprofit, legal, public affairs, or research‑focused organizations. Interest or experience in elections, public policy, government, or civic initiatives. Experience preparing reports, presentations, written communications, or research summaries. Additional Requirements Candidates must be local to the Washington, DC area. Must be available for occasional evening support until approximately 7:00 PM. Must complete the required background screening. Must sign confidentiality documentation, including an NDA and identity verification forms. Resume and cover letter are required for consideration.
