Purchasing Supervisor

The Purchasing Lead Supervisor is responsible for overseeing procurement activities, supplier management, and purchasing operations within a battery energy manufacturing environment. This role ensures the timely acquisition of raw materials, battery components, production supplies, and indirect materials required to support manufacturing operations. The Purchasing Lead Supervisor manages purchasing personnel, develops supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, monitors inventory levels, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to achieve cost, quality, and delivery objectives. Responsibilities Procurement & Purchasing Operations Lead daily purchasing activities to ensure uninterrupted production operations. Procure battery cells, electronic components, metals, plastics, packaging materials, and indirect supplies. Review and approve purchase requisitions and purchase orders. Monitor supplier performance regarding quality, delivery, and cost objectives. Ensure materials are delivered according to production schedules. Develop and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers. Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and service agreements. Conduct supplier evaluations, audits, and performance reviews. Identify and qualify new suppliers to support business growth and risk mitigation. Resolve supplier-related issues involving quality, delivery, or commercial concerns. Supervise and mentor Purchasing Coordinators, Buyers, and procurement staff. Assign workloads and monitor team productivity. Provide coaching, training, and performance evaluations. Support employee development and succession planning initiatives. Material Planning & Inventory Control Partner with Production Planning, Warehouse, and Logistics teams to forecast material requirements. Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate stock availability. Reduce excess inventory while maintaining production continuity. Assist with inventory audits, cycle counts, and material reconciliation. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement procurement improvement initiatives. Analyze purchasing trends and market conditions. Support value engineering and supplier cost reduction programs.Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement projects. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, Logistics, and Finance teams. Support new product launches and engineering change management activities. Coordinate material sourcing for prototype and pilot production builds. Ensure purchased materials meet technical and quality specifications. Compliance & Reporting Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and procurement procedures. Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier documentation. Generate reports on spending, supplier performance, cost savings, and procurement KPIs. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills 3 + years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment. 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. Experience in battery manufacturing, automotive, electronics, energy storage, or industrial manufacturing highly preferred. Bilingual in Korean and English preferred. Preferred Skills Strong negotiation and supplier management skills. Understanding of MRP, ERP, and inventory management systems. Knowledge of procurement processes, sourcing strategies, and contract negotiations. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Effective communication and leadership capabilities.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
