About the role:
The Accounting Specialist supports day-to-day accounting operations with a focus on cash application, billing, and accurate financial data entry. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with accounting systems in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
What you will do:
- Utilize Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains), Excel, and Word to complete daily accounting tasks and reporting.
- Review figures, postings, and documents to ensure correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper account coding.
- Research, code, and post cash receipts into the accounting system in a timely and accurate manner.
- Research and apply unallocated cash, resolving discrepancies and ensuring proper allocation.
- Generate and distribute monthly customer billings.
- Maintain organized, accurate financial records and documentation.
- Perform other related accounting duties and projects as assigned.
What we are looking for:
- High school diploma or GED required; degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- At least two years of relevant accounting, bookkeeping, or data entry experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); experience with Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) strongly preferred.
- Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of our location; this is a five-day, in-office role.
