Medical Director Of Level III Trauma CenterWe are seeking an experienced Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon to serve as Medical Director of a Level III Trauma Center in Sacramento, CA. This dual-role opportunity combines hands-on clinical practice with physician leadership, trauma program oversight, quality improvement, and program development.The ideal candidate will provide exceptional surgical care while guiding trauma program performance, maintaining regulatory compliance, and fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. Join a physician-led organization that minimizes administrative burdens, allowing you to focus on clinical leadership and patient care.Medical Director ResponsibilitiesProvide overall physician leadership and direction for the Trauma Surgery program.Maintain compliance with American College of Surgeons (ACS) requirements and applicable state Level III Trauma Center standards.Lead and participate in trauma quality assurance, performance improvement, and patient safety initiatives.Participate in trauma committees, peer review, and multidisciplinary conferences.Serve as the physician liaison between the trauma service, hospital leadership, and multidisciplinary teams.Support trauma program development, operational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.Promote a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, and patient-centered care.Clinical ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive care for trauma and Acute Care Surgery patients.Respond to trauma activations and acute surgical consultations.Perform trauma procedures and emergency general surgery operations as clinically indicated.Evaluate and manage Acute Care Surgery consultations and operative cases.Conduct inpatient rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary treatment plans.Collaborate with emergency medicine, anesthesia, critical care, nursing, rehabilitation, and other specialties.Deliver high-quality surgical care for patients with complex and high-acuity conditions.Qualifications & RequirementsMD or DO degreeBoard Certification in General Surgery requiredBoard Certification in Surgical Critical Care preferred, but not requiredMinimum of 5 years of post-graduate clinical experienceCurrent or recent experience in Trauma and Acute Care SurgeryCurrent or recent experience at a Level I, II, or III Trauma CenterPrior trauma program leadership experience preferredActive California medical license or eligibility to obtain oneStrong clinical judgment and expertise in trauma and emergency surgeryExcellent leadership, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skillsCompensation & BenefitsCompensation: $500,000+Medical malpractice insurance with tail coverageComprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefitsEmployer-matched 401(k) retirement planAnnual CME and licensing allowanceCredentialing and onboarding support
