Exercise Technician, PRN, Cardiac Rehab, EWCH, Murphy, NC

Job Summary The Exercise Technician will participate in out‑patient phases of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program under the direction of the Cardiac Rehab Manager. This role assists the Cardiac Rehab Manager and licensed staff in coordinating and supervising exercise sessions for patients participating in Phases II, III, and IV of cardiac rehabilitation. Responsibilities Greet patients and promote a welcoming, HIPAA‑compliant, friendly environment. Assist with telemetry equipment setup and use. Monitor and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse oximetry, heart rate, reported exertion and dyspnea levels). Assist with guided group exercise activities, including stretching, machines, and resistance training. Reinforce patient education on proper exercise procedures and self‑monitoring techniques. Provide patient assistance as needed to support program goals and safety. File patient care reports and maintain accurate documentation. Clean and sanitize equipment and ensure patients have the proper tools during sessions. Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred: Completion of ET competencies. Preferred: CNA or MA certification. Preferred: Knowledge of basic EKG interpretation. Preferred: Experience with performing vital signs. Preferred: Fall prevention knowledge. Experience Required: N/A. Preferred: One‑year experience as ET and/or previous experience in cardiac and/or pulmonary care or cardiac/pulmonary rehab. Position Requirements Required: BLS certification prior to working in the department and must be maintained throughout employment. Preferred: Telemetry Tech Certification. Department Position Summary The Exercise Technician will participate in out‑patient phases of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. Responsibilities include assisting with coordination and supervision of exercise sessions in Phases II, III, and IV. The patient population is primarily adult, with some geriatric patients served. Orientation, continuing education, knowledge, and skills will be developed as appropriate. Must be self‑motivated and work efficiently under the direction of an RN, RT, EP, or Exercise Specialist with occasional limited supervision. Day‑to‑day tasks may include filing and printing reports for patient care. The Technician will also assist with telemetry equipment setup and use, monitor and record vital signs, and report abnormalities to licensed staff. Additional duties include guiding group exercise activities, reinforcing patient education, providing assistance, filing reports, maintaining documentation, and cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining equipment.
