Job Title

Travel RN – Charge Nurse | PCU / Clinical Decision Unit (Nights)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Every other weekend required | Holidays assisted | No on-call requirement

Key Responsibilities

• Serve in a Charge Nurse capacity on a 40-bed Clinical Decision / Direct Admit Unit focused on ED decompression and enhanced patient throughput
• Receive admitted patients from the ED and complete Admission Assessments, Medication Reconciliation, and initiation of acute care orders
• Provide step-down and med-surg level care with patient ratios of 1:5 (Step-Down) and 1:6 (Med-Surg), consistent across day and night shifts
• Utilize Cerner for all clinical documentation and Baxter IV pumps for medication delivery
• Float to other units within scope of practice as needed per unit floating policy
• Uphold patient safety standards and contribute to a fast-paced, high-turnover environment caring for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in North Carolina (or compact state eligibility)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Med-Surg, Telemetry (remote), and/or Step-Down (PCU) settings
• Positive, team-focused attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-turnover clinical environment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior Charge Nurse experience or demonstrated willingness to step into a charge role
• Additional clinical certifications relevant to PCU or telemetry care
• Well-rounded clinical background across multiple diagnoses and patient populations
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Baxter IV pump systems
