Summary A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) who works collaboratively with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to administer and provide safe and effective anesthesia‑related care to patients before, during, and after surgery. The CRNA cares for patients at all acuity levels across the lifespan in a variety of settings including surgical, therapeutic, diagnostic, and obstetrical procedures. Education & Certification Graduation with a Master’s or Doctorate degree from a Nurse Anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). Valid New Hampshire State APRN License (must meet state licensure education requirements and be obtained prior to start date). Valid New Hampshire State RN License (must meet state licensure education requirements and be obtained prior to start date). Board certification as a CRNA by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (must be obtained prior to start date). ACLS, PALS, and BLS certification. Experience New graduates may be hired. Responsibilities Provide pre‑anesthetic preparation and patient evaluation including comprehensive health histories and physical examinations. Conduct pre‑anesthesia evaluations and obtain informed consent. Select and/or administer pre‑anesthetic medications. Participate in development of patient care plans. Prepare and administer anesthetic agents or other agents, including controlled substances. Plan and initiate anesthetic techniques (general, regional, neuraxial, and monitored anesthesia care). Provide anesthesia induction, maintenance, emergence, and post‑anesthesia care. Select and insert invasive and non‑invasive monitoring modalities. Perform tracheal intubation and extubation, airway management, and mechanical ventilation. Perform venous and arterial punctures. Manage patient fluid, blood, electrolyte, and acid‑base balance. Order and evaluate appropriate diagnostic tests. Respond to abnormal findings with corrective actions. Utilize anesthetic techniques such as ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and other technologies to improve diagnosis, care delivery, and patient safety. Provide acute, chronic, and interventional pain management services. Provide critical care and resuscitation services during anesthesia. Respond to emergency situations using airway management and other techniques. Facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia. Administer pharmacological or supportive treatment to ensure adequate patient recovery. Follow up after anesthesia to evaluate patient response and potential complications. Frequently required to bend, perform fine‑motor tasks, hear, reach, sit, speak, and walk. Occasionally required to do repetitive motion, squat, and stand. Specific vision abilities required: color vision, depth perception, far vision, near vision, and peripheral vision. Frequently exposed to bloodborne and bodily fluids; occasionally exposed to airborne pathogens, chemotherapeutic agents, or toxic chemicals.
