WHMS: In School Intervention Assistant Job ID: 5811571 Location: Windy Hill Middle School, Owings, Maryland Application Deadline: July 31, 2026 11:59 PM (Eastern Standard Time) Starting Date: Immediately Salary: $27.68 - $35.29 per hour (Scale 18) Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Job Description Position Summary: Provides supervision and instructional assistance to students assigned to the In‑School Suspension (ISS) or In‑School Intervention (ISI) Program and supports classroom teachers. Reports directly to the Principal. Essential Job Functions Earn and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification. Participate in and successfully complete Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI) training. Provide on‑site supervision, instructional support, and assistance for students in the ISS/ISI Program. Coordinate with classroom teachers to support class work and homework assignments. Assist individual students in need of special attention in ISS/ISI or within the classroom setting. Provide assistance and supervision to individual classrooms as directed by the principal or designee. Implement and monitor a behavioral management program. Maintain accurate data and records for students in the ISS/ISI program. Communicate regularly with school‑based administrators about students in the program. Assist students in returning to their regular instructional program. Assist with data entry as directed by school administration. Be familiar with program, school organization policies and procedures. Think, concentrate, and interact positively with others. Arrive regularly and promptly. Work under stress and meet all deadlines. Other Responsibilities Perform related work as required or assigned by the building principal or designee. Requirements Two years of college (associate degree or a minimum of 60 earned credits); bachelor’s degree preferred. Must have or obtain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification and Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI). Ability to understand and communicate effectively with students, teachers, staff, and the community. Demonstrated ability to work independently and complete tasks as assigned. Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to responsibilities listed. Physical and Psychological Conditions The position requires significant periods of standing and walking in a typical school environment.
