Duration: 24-Month Contract (Estimated Start Date: July 13, 2026)

Schedule: First Shift | 9/80 Work Schedule

Travel: Up to 25% (primarily to Peoria, IL)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer IV to support the integration, testing, and validation of autonomous haul truck technologies in a proving ground environment. This role involves developing and executing test plans, analyzing system performance, troubleshooting complex issues, and providing detailed technical documentation and recommendations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vehicle testing, validation, or autonomous systems and be comfortable working in demanding outdoor environments.

Education & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience in the testing or development of control systems, vehicles, engines, or autonomous technologies.
• Internship experience may be considered toward overall experience requirements.
• Master's degree may substitute for a portion of the required experience.
• Experience requirements:
• Bachelor's degree: 7-8 years of relevant experience
• Master's degree: 5 years of relevant experience
• Prior experience in vehicle testing, validation, or development environments is required.
• Experience working with heavy equipment, mining equipment, construction machinery, or similar platforms is highly preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems and standard computer applications.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve issues within complex mechanical, electrical, and software-integrated systems.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Technical Skills

• Experience with Ubuntu and/or Linux operating systems.
• Test planning, execution, and documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of autonomous system technologies, including perception, planning, localization, or positioning systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and execute test and development plans for autonomous haul truck systems.
• Conduct testing activities on autonomous mining and drilling equipment.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret test data to evaluate system performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues encountered during testing.
• Document test results, defects, observations, and corrective actions with a high level of detail.
• Communicate findings effectively to engineering and cross-functional teams.
• Prepare comprehensive test reports and provide recommendations for system improvements based on testing outcomes.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Work is performed in a remote proving ground environment with conditions similar to mining operations, including exposure to heat, dust, and dry weather.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors for extended periods.
• Frequent climbing on and off large equipment while carrying a backpack is an essential function of the role.
• Candidates must be physically capable and willing to repeatedly ascend and descend heavy machinery throughout the workday; inability to perform this requirement will disqualify applicants from consideration.
