Mental Health Therapist - Cleft and Craniofacial Center Department: PCMG-MAIN | Mental Health Therapy Location: Phoenix Shift: Mon-Fri, Days, 8am-5pm Category: Behavioral Health Posting #: 1017421 Employee Type: Full-Time Position Summary Phoenix Children’s Center for Cleft and Craniofacial Care was established more than 30 years ago as the Barrow Cleft and Craniofacial Center. The American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association has approved the Center for Cleft and Craniofacial Care as both a Cleft Palate Team and a Craniofacial Team. We help patients with facial differences navigate their care. Our craniofacial experts focus on team-centered care for patients with cleft and craniofacial disorders. From physical appearance to emotional coping, our team ensures that all patients get the care they need for every aspect of their condition. With our team approach to care, patients and families have access to craniofacial experts. We understand how to treat the complexities associated with craniofacial anomalies and are sensitive to the personal nature of these conditions. We provide comprehensive support for lifelong, positive results. Our Behavioral Health team consists of mental health therapists and social workers. In conjunction with the patient’s medical care, the Mental Health Therapist provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for a range of cognitive, behavioral and/or emotional issues which may arise in relation to the patient’s condition. Parent support is also provided. Phoenix Children’s Standards of Professional Conduct and Competence are expected to be upheld. This position will be located at the Phoenix Children's Cleft and Craniofacial Center at St. Joseph's Campus, 124 W Thomas Rd Suite 320, Phoenix, AZ 85013. For questions and inquiries please contact: Chastity Jensen, APP Talent Acquisition Partner View email address on click.appcast.io Position Duties Provide Therapeutic Interventions Complete comprehensive individualized assessments that identify psychosocial factors important to management of physical, psychological, behavioral, emotional and/or mental health issues. Ensure assessments are documented appropriately for insurance reimbursement. Comply with Phoenix Children's policies and practices. Utilize screening tools as necessary to identify appropriate levels of care. Develop patient-centered individualized treatment plans to improve patient health and wellness. Provide ongoing evidence-based therapeutic interventions that build on patient and family strengths and address ongoing mental health needs. Use clinical best practices to engage families and achieve desired clinical outcomes. Ensure services are clinically necessary and appropriately documented for insurance reimbursement. Provide services in accordance with Phoenix Children's policies and practices. Identify barriers that impede treatment and/or recovery and help patient/family identify strengths and build on protective factors to assist with success at discharge. Coordinate Care with Other Facilities and Providers Coordinate care with insurance companies, community partners or governmental agencies, as necessary to serve the needs of the child and family. Provide appropriate documentation for coordination and comply with Phoenix Children's policies and practices. Cultivate and maintain effective interaction/communication with members of the medical staff, nursing staff, case managers, peers and families to facilitate care coordination and continuity of care. Develop treatment goals and objectives of disciplines involved in partite care, plans and coordinate effective treatment interventions. Attend care conferences, interdisciplinary team rounds, and/or critical incidents/stress debriefings as necessary. Perform care coordination and monitor patients as they transition between outpatient and inpatient service. Refer cases identified as risk management issues, peer review issues, or quality issues to appropriate departmental units. Participate in hospital and departmental operations initiatives to improve care delivery methods. Conduct or facilitate individual, group and family therapy meetings in the form of process groups, didactic groups; hold regular update meetings with families; provide patient and family education regarding behavioral health issues. Documentation Complete clinical record documentation in a timely manner and provide information to coordinate care, confirm demographic information, provide recommendations to assist colleagues and the medical team with patient care. Create documentation to bill for services, as appropriate. Learning Maintain professional competency by regularly participating in a variety of educational programs and in services, reviewing relevant professional publication, participating in community based committees related to service line responsibilities, and/or participating in professional societies to ensure ongoing awareness of current methodologies, practices and philosophies as applied to the patient care population. Maintain current knowledge of community and other resource networks to meet patient and family needs, provide relevant resources, and assist, as necessary with connecting the patient/family to the relevant resources. Participation in continuing education to continually improve skills or abilities. Maintain independent licensure. Perform miscellaneous job related duties as requested. Position Qualifications Education Masters’ degree from an accredited school in the field of social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology or related behavioral health field. Required. Experience Minimum of two years’ work experience in the mental health field post master’s degree. Must be eligible to be added to relevant insurance panels. Preferred. Five years’ work experience providing evidence-based therapy for children with histories of trauma and/or complex medical needs. Preferred. Must be eligible to be added to relevant insurance panels. Required. Special Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Moderate to expert computer skills. Required. Bilingual (English/Spanish). Preferred. Effective decision making, problem solving skills, demonstration of creativity in problem solving, patient and family strengths, influential leadership skill. Required. Critical thinking skills and ability to anticipate patient discharge needs. Required. Ability to assess symptoms and develop diagnostic impressions and treatment plans. Required. Additional Requirements Current Arizona license as an LCSW, LPC or LMFT. Experience providing services for families, and an ability to work collaboratively with psychiatry, psychology and members of the medical team. Required. DPS Fingerprint Clearance. Required. Current BLS certification for Health Care Professionals from the American Heart Association. Required.
