Research Scientist/Engineer

Job Title: Research Scientist or Sr. Research Scientist/ Engineer Location: Onsite, Cranbury, New Jersey Position Type: Full-Time Reports To: TBD Job Summary: Porton/J-Star is seeking experienced and self-driven research scientists/engineers to join the department of Global Chemical Engineering and Technologies (GCET), work in process and particle engineering integrated with material science & engineering. The position is ideal for an individual with strong interests in solving challenging real-world problems for new drug development through hands-on R&D works in a multidisciplinary and dynamic team environment. Key Responsibilities (General, not limited to): Lead project execution including experimentation, data analysis, documentation, and reporting, in phase-appropriate particle engineering related process development for API or API intermediate isolation meeting requirements of product critical quality attributes as well as process robustness and efficiency in production. Integrate process data (off-line/in-situ, such as from process automation, PAT, solid state characterization, HPLC, GC, NMR, etc.) with equipment train design; apply process simulation tools and verify models using experimental design and testing with reliable data collection; correlate fundamentals of particle properties/characteristics with crystallization/precipitation/filtration/drying processes and equipment-oriented operations. Understand the requirements of CMC development programs for new drugs, elements of QbD, and communicate proactively both internally and externally to maximize efficiency and success of each project. Take leadership in a teamworking environment, technically and/or managerially. Qualifications & Skills : M.S. or Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering and/or related scientific/technical disciplines (e.g., physical chemistry, material science & engineering, etc.). 3+ years of relevant experience, with in depth understanding of fundamental principles related to the problems solved. Experience in process scale-up, tech-transfer, plant or manufacturing operations are highly desirable. Enthusiastic in learning and applying knowledge in solving challenging technical problems for product quality and process efficiency controls.
