Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Stepdown / CVU

Location

Omaha, NE | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | Every other weekend required | 13-week assignment

Key Responsibilities

• Provide intermediate-level cardiac and vascular nursing care to patients including downgraded CVICU patients, supporting the thoracic program, EP, cath lab, and structural heart programs
• Manage and titrate drips including Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Nicardipine, Epinephrine, Cardizem, and other blood pressure management medications
• Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; unit utilizes remote tele techs with hardwired and tele box capabilities
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4, or 1:3 for post-surgical patients within the first 24 hours
• Float to units of same or lower acuity levels as needed
• Complete a mandatory pass/fail orientation exam (open book, 90% passing score required)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of experience with cardiac stepdown or equivalent patient population
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Candidates currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity are not eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with cardiac diagnoses including CHF, A-fib with RVR, CVAs, and cath lab patients
• Familiarity with BiPAP and CPAP respiratory support equipment
• Prior experience titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips in a monitored setting
