The Behavioral Health Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in supporting patients under the guidance of physicians and nursing staff. This position requires timely and accurate documentation in accordance with organizational policies and demonstrates the skills necessary to provide compassionate care across all age groups, from newborns to geriatrics.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Deliver patient care as outlined by unit competencies, policies, and procedures to achieve positive patient outcomes.
• Adhere to privacy and security regulations concerning Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Maintain professional communication and collaborative relationships with patients, families, healthcare team members, and external agencies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the care environment.

Education and Experience:

• Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Home Health Aide (HHA) within the state of Kansas, or completion of at least one semester of nursing school.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Current BLS/CPR certification from an approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation.
• Successful completion of on-the-job training in sterile technique, sterile field maintenance, instrument care/handling (Obstetrics and Surgery), as well as EKG and phlebotomy training (Emergency).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a medical environment.
• Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification (ASCP) is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Basic to moderate computer skills, including telesitter technology.
• Effective communication abilities.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and demonstrate empathy and compassion in patient care.

Physical Requirements:

• Occasional exertion of heavy work, including lifting over 100 lbs and frequent standing or walking for 75-100% of the shift.
