Clinicians can be floated across a variety of units, including all units within their specialty, which is common, and at times to areas outside their primary competency. If floated outside of their primary competency, a team-based care model will be implemented to ensure appropriate support. Cook may request a clinician to float outside of their home facility, provided the distance does not exceed 50 miles. Travelers may be notified of a float assignment up to 2 hours prior to the start of their shift. Refusal to float may result in cancellation of the assignment. If the 2nd most recent employer is not available, the next most recent employer must be used.
