Field Engineer - Civil Infra & Construction Ops

Southland Holdings is currently accepting resumes for experienced Field Engineers in Vinton, LA. We are looking for someone with knowledge in drainage, utility, and roadway construction. Responsibilities Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals. Coordinate with subcontractors. Provide field layout to crews. Assist management with field & office operations such as ordering of materials and quality control, receive and review change orders. Assist more senior civil engineers with entry level engineering tasks. Assist with performing onsite construction administration and construction observation services including reporting/monitoring contractor's compliance with contract documents. Evaluate submittals of shop drawings, material data and samples and take appropriate action based on contract specifications, submission of correspondence to the owner and quantity tracking. Review and process as-built drawings to ensure that all changes during the course of construction are recorded and complete project close‑out requirements in accordance with contract documents. Coordinate meeting agendas, prepare minutes and follow up on action items. Maintain effective and professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers and contractors; execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Construction/related degree with 2+ years of heavy civil construction experience; excellent computer skills and analytical ability. Surveying capabilities; Microsoft Office experience. Understanding of industrial construction process. Ability to interpret contract specifications and drawings; knowledge of contract procedures and principles. Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment. Ability to understand construction logic and sequencing of complex projects. Education: Associate degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering; relevant US experience can waive degree. Preferred: experience in civil infrastructure (USACE projects, pipeline, water treatment, concrete, marine, etc.); USACE CQM Certification. OSHA 30 training; AutoCAD experience. Bluebeam Revu Experience; P6 Experience.
