Registered Nurse (RN) - CVICU

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Cardiac/Vascular Intensive Care to provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment. This role involves working with critically ill patients, particularly those recovering from surgical procedures related to cardiac conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the CVICU, ensuring adherence to care plans and protocols.
• Monitor and assess patients' vital signs and conditions, leveraging critical thinking skills to identify changes in status.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including the management of ventilators and vasoactive drips.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Float to other units, such as Medical ICU and Progressive Care Unit, as needed to support patient care and staffing needs.

Qualifications

• Current Arizona nursing license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• A minimum of 2 years of critical care experience required, with a focus on Cardiac/ICU nursing.
• Experience with open heart procedures, balloon pump management, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) is preferred.
• Willingness to work at least 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule for a 13-week contract.

Work Environment

The position is situated in a 15-bed CVICU, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 2:1, ensuring a focus on delivering individualized care to complex patients.

Additional Information

• Typical procedures performed include Post CABG, STEMI interventions, and vascular surgeries.
• Candidate must be adaptable and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
• Scrub colors: Any solid color; no specific preference.
