Research Technologist

The Research Technologist will support the Ledford Lab in advancing the University of Georgia's multidisciplinary, translational research initiatives focused on airway disease and asthma prevention. Responsibilities include conducting laboratory experiments, processing human cell samples, and maintaining a mouse colony. This role also coordinates lab operations such as organizing meetings and managing supply orders. Working in a highly collaborative and professional environment, the Research Technologist will partner with graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and undergraduates, and their work will be presented at bi-weekly lab meetings.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies - Knowledge of laboratory research principles, including experimental design and data collection methods. Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration and presentation of research findings. Knowledge of translational research concepts, particularly related to airway disease and asthma. Ability to design and execute research experiments with minimal supervision. Maintaining accurate records, protocols, and compliance documentation. Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment. Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a research setting. Ability to maintain attention to detail and ensure accuracy in experimental procedures and documentation. Ability to adapt protocols and optimize procedures for improved research outcomes. Skilled in conducting complex laboratory experiments and troubleshooting procedures.

Physical Demands - Performs research and administrative tasks in laboratory and office environments which includes the ability to perform repetitive tasks such as data entry, equipment operation, and laboratory procedure and ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods while performing experiments, data entry, or administrative tasks.
