Diesel Mechanic

Position Description Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Baltimore, Maryland. Key Compensation and Schedule Hourly Pay: $27.00 per hour Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification, up to $700 total Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter Schedule: Monday–Friday; Weekends OFF Hours: Second Shift 3:30 pm – 12:00 am Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO in first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance Paid training and skill development Safety‑first workplace & state‑of‑the‑art equipment Top Tech Competition: Earn $250 – $50,000 per year U.S. military veterans extra paid day off 15% company stock discount Up to $5,000 in technical tuition repayment 12‑week paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech & more Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections Perform preventive maintenance Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers Identify root cause of basic failures and perform repairs as required Replace defective components as instructed Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine complaint nature when assigned a task Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation Work in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT) Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including service island support as needed Requirements High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree, or technical certifications (preferred) Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) (required) Two or more years of classroom training and work experience (preferred) Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred) Must be able to obtain a CDL within six months after hire Pass a Ryder drug test Pass a DOT physical Pass a Ryder road test Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years Screening and Additional Requirements Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, a road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
