Mechanical Engineer

Immediate need for a talented Mechanical Engineer. This is a 06+ Months Contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Detroit, MI (Onsite). Job ID:26-22383 Pay Range: $45 - $50/hour. Key Responsibilities: Provide daily maintenance engineering support for engine, axle, and transmission assembly lines. Troubleshoot complex mechanical equipment failures and support skilled trades in resolving production issues. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime. Review engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation to identify spare parts and maintenance requirements. Design, develop, and implement tooling and assembly process improvements to support new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives. Support procurement, installation, commissioning, and certification of manufacturing equipment. Assist with equipment validation, including torque tools, leak testers, gauges, and fastening systems. Work closely with production supervisors and operators to ensure adherence to manufacturing processes and production targets. Provide technical guidance and coaching to assemblers, supervisors, and maintenance personnel. Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve equipment performance. Support weekend production coverage and respond to equipment breakdowns when required. Key Requirements and Technology Experience: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent industry experience. Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience within an assembly or production environment. Strong hands-on experience supporting manufacturing equipment on the production floor. Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems, automation equipment, and assembly processes. Knowledge of manufacturing methods, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement principles. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
