Amphenol High Speed and Commercial Products Groups are the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors, this role is part of the Strategic Markets team (Automotive/Industrial/Consumer). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEM's globally. We are currently seeking a Field Sales Engineer to join our West Coast team. The position will be located in the Bay area.

This position is to support a major Automotive customer. The FSE will own a subset of the business with the customer and work jointly with the Global Account Manager who will oversee all business for the account. The FSE candidate will drive business and internal product development, product marketing, and application teams to sell and promote all Amphenol products to the customer via successful design win activities and total channel management. You will devise strategies to differentiate our products and solutions from our competitors while broadening the customer base and increasing penetration at existing accounts, including key global accounts. You will be responsible for communicating the strategy to internal teams through presentations as well as submitting forecast. The role of Sales Engineer gives an excellent insight into the Sales, Marketing, Technical, and Product Development functions of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide sales leadership, and work closely with Field Applications Engineer and Business Units.
• Promote and sell Amphenol products with the named customer and develop new prospects.
• Work with the Global Account Manager to manage and own relationships with the key customer and drive activity across a global sales channel.
• Identify all interconnect opportunities/applications of Amphenol products for clients and work with the customers engineering team to design in new products
• Develop and implement sales plan and growth strategy
• Meet and exceed strategic objectives and established sales quota via new design wins and management of the entire sales channel
• Support technical aspects of the sales cycle including marketing support for the development and implementation of Amphenol products
• Provide customer service to solve complex interconnect problems and technical inquiries
• Build rapport and provide customer support by supplying information related to samples, delivery dates, part drawings and specifications, quality issues, credit issues, etc.
• Develop a thorough understanding of the market and competition within the customer.
• Keep informed of new products and other general information of interest to customers.
• Regular customer visits are required.
• Some travel will berequired, up to 40% domestically, international travel as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Business/Marketing or Engineering with a technical discipline/background
• Should have a Business/Marketing aptitude
• Knowledge and understanding of interconnect solutions industry, lighting experience a plus
• 3+ years of current fieldsales and applications experience, or related experience (sales within the interconnect, passive, electromechanical components realm preferred)
• Knowledge of international business practices a plus

• Sales skills to successfully negotiate a technical design win, approved vendor status, contracts, and customer partnership.
• Technically astute with an ability to acquire extensive product and application knowledge, with an ability to assess, and provide solutions for, customer design challenges/needs
• Self-motivated and driven to identify, qualify and pursue new customers and new markets
• Ability to effectively communicate across the engineering and managerial functions of a business
• Strong oral and written communications to provide high level customer service and build relationships
• Organizational skills to anticipate, prioritize, plan, organize, forecast to meet and exceed strategic objectives
• Leadership skills to assess and drive new opportunities in a global account environment
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/Power Point)
