Medical Office Billing Clerk

Here's what you'd do:

• Under general supervision, responsible for performing routine calculations, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary insurance data to prepare statements to patients' insurance carriers.
• May prepare notices to patients of the amount expected (or received) from insurance and the amount expected from the patient.
• Reviews claims adjudicated by Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial carriers for appropriate billing.
• Addresses denied claims, claims pending for medical necessity, and claims pending for supporting documentation or medical records by working with various teams such as clinic staff, registration staff, and coding staff to complete appeals.
• Extract information regarding patient treatment from medical records and work closely with coding staff to compose individualized appeal letters.
• Identifies payor-specific patterns or trends regarding denials and reports to management for communication to Medical Departments and Administrators.
• Makes the necessary recommendations regarding billing and edit creation to reduce denials.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in Dental billing and coding.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in Clinical Setting.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

• Medical/Dental coding experience.
• Ortho specialty.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Salary: $18.80 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
