Job Title: Equipment Operator / Material Handler Job Description

This role is an on-site Equipment Operator / Material Handler position with a manufacturer in the eastern Indianapolis area on first shift. You will safely move, load, and secure large materials and finished products using industrial equipment and basic fabrication skills to support efficient shipping and production operations.

• Operate an overhead crane to safely move large and heavy materials throughout the facility.
• Operate an industrial forklift to load and unload truck shipments and move materials as needed.
• Secure loads of finished product using banding, rigging, and related methods to ensure safe transport.
• Build crates for finished materials to be shipped, following specifications and safety guidelines.
• Load and unload materials and finished goods in a safe, organized, and timely manner.
• Inspect equipment such as forklifts, hoists, and overhead cranes before use and report any issues.
• Follow all safety procedures and use proper rigging and banding techniques to prevent damage or injury.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area in shipping, receiving, and material handling zones.
• Work collaboratively with production and shipping teams to meet daily schedules and customer deadlines.

• Experience operating an industrial forklift in a manufacturing, warehouse, or similar environment.
• Hands-on experience using an overhead crane or hoist to move large materials.
• Proficiency in rigging and banding techniques to secure loads of finished product safely.
• Ability to load and unload trucks and handle large, heavy materials with proper safety practices.
• Basic skills in building crates or similar packaging for finished materials.
• Strong attention to safety, including proper use of equipment and adherence to facility procedures.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively on a first-shift schedule.

• Experience with banding tools and equipment used to secure materials for shipment.
• Familiarity with hoists and overhead lifting equipment in an industrial setting.
• Comfort working in a manufacturing or production environment with large materials and machinery.
• Ability to perform basic measurements and use hand tools when building crates or packaging.
• Reliability and punctuality for a consistent Monday–Friday first-shift schedule.

This is a first-shift role, working Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., including a 30-minute lunch and two 15-minute breaks. The position is based in a manufacturing facility in eastern Indianapolis, where you work around large materials, industrial forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists, and shipping equipment. The environment is active and hands-on, with a focus on safety and teamwork. A uniform allowance is provided to support appropriate work attire suited to an industrial setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $26.00/hr.
