About Reception Diagnostic Center: The Reception Diagnostic Center is a maximum‑security intake facility located in Plainfield, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 600 incarcerated adult males. All adult males entering the Indiana Department of Correction are received, assessed, and classified at this facility. Assessments include physical and mental health evaluations, addiction services screening, and education and work‑readiness reviews. This information helps determine the most appropriate long‑term facility placement. Staff coordinate comprehensive evaluations to support safety and rehabilitation. Role Overview: Within this role the individual will oversee the grievance process and serve as backup support for the disciplinary hearing process. The position will also serve as support and backup to the litigation liaison. You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:Specialized knowledge of the basic principles and theories of administrative managementWorking knowledge of research techniques and report compositionEffective written and verbal communication skillsAttention to detail and proofreading skillsOrganizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and multitaskAbility to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Ability to analyze procedures and policies and write procedural manuals and recommend improvementsAbility to maintain cooperative work relationships Salary:The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. A Day in the Life: ​The essential functions of this role are as follows: Works as a professional staff assistant within a state agency or organization performing multiple administrative tasks.Researches and prepares various reports on agency programs and/or procedures.Prepares and maintains procedural manual for agency functions.Reviews policies, plans, and procedures for administrative soundness.Coordinates the work of various sections of the agency or department.Answers inquiries from the public concerning policy and procedures in assigned area.Makes recommendations to administrator about procedures and methods to improve efficiency and effectiveness.Monitors and documents activity occurring in their respective department to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations.The job profile is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. What You'll Need for Success: Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:General knowledge of practices and procedures of work release, parole, probation, and clemency. Basic knowledge of IDOC mission, correctional environment, and Indiana Criminal Code. Ability to complete related training offered by Correctional Training Institute. Excellent communication skills required in interactions with Court officials and other governmental entities. High School Diploma or equivalentat least 4 years of full-time professional experience in administrative support, business administration, program support, public administration, or related experience. Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience. A degree is not required. However, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) and at least 1+ years of experience in corrections or related area applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.
