Major Case Specialist Liability

Overview We are a leading property‑casualty insurer with over 170 years of experience. This role supports the investigation and resolution of serious and complex Specialty claims across the U.S. The base salary range is $104,000–$171,700 plus a sign‑on bonus of up to $20,000 and performance incentives. Responsibilities Investigate, evaluate, reserve, negotiate and resolve assigned serious and complex claims. Provide quality claim handling throughout the claim life cycle, including coverage analysis, investigation, reserving, litigation management, negotiation and resolution. Serve as a technical resource and provide consulting and training to claim professionals, business partners and stakeholders. Develop and implement creative resolution strategies and manage litigated claims, including selection of counsel and litigation planning. Maintain claim files, document activities and ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards and regulatory requirements. Establish and maintain proper indemnity and expense reserves and provide guidance to underwriting partners. Participate in roundtable discussions and share best practices for improved claim outcomes. Act independently on most cases without supervisory involvement. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. 10+ years of claims handling experience, including 5–7 years with serious injury and complex liability claims. Extensive knowledge of commercial lines products, policy language, exclusions and ISO forms. Advanced negotiation, customer‑service, and litigation‑management skills. Experience with serious injury litigation or comparable litigation experience. Strong analytical, judgment, communication, negotiation and valuation skills. Proficiency with business technology tools for research, tracking and communication. Ability to make independent decisions on most assigned cases. Openness to collaboration and ability to coach and influence others.
