Principal Machine Learning Engineer

As a hands-on Principal Machine Learning Engineer in the Confluence AI organization, the full-time role will set technical direction, design and build production-grade ML systems, and lead the development of AI capabilities to enhance user experiences across Confluence, with the flexibility to work remotely or in an office. Key responsibilities Set technical direction for machine learning and AI initiatives that enhance content creation, editing, and recommendations in Confluence Design and evolve production-grade ML systems and supporting infrastructure for reliable AI feature delivery at scale Lead the translation of product opportunities into technical strategies and measurable outcomes, driving customer-facing AI capabilities Required qualifications Extensive experience in machine learning and AI product development Proven track record of designing and implementing production-grade ML systems Strong understanding of model behavior, retrieval, ranking, and automated evaluation Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and design Ability to mentor and raise engineering standards within teams
