Maintenance Supervisor

Maintenance SupervisorDistrict 87 is home to one high school, one junior high, six elementary schools, and one early childhood school. The base salary compensation range for this position will be $90,000-$110,000 annually. This position will be classified as part of the Professional Supervisory employee group.QualificationsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:Associate's Degree requiredTrade or vocational school graduate (or equivalent) in lieu of an Associate's DegreeMinimum of five (5) years of experience in a supervisory role, preferably within an institutional environmentPossess a valid driver's license with the State of IllinoisMust possess an Asbestos Supervisor's license with the State of Illinois or ability to obtain within six months of employmentPhysical Demands:Strenuous physical effort sometimes required, e.g., lifting, pulling, and pushing over fifty (50) poundsClimb and balance on ladders and scaffolding, kneeling, crouching, and stoopingOperate heavy power tools, small hand tools and various test equipmentSupervision:Given: Maintenance, Legacy Maintenance II, Landscape Gardener/PainterReceived: Direct-Chief Financial and Facilities Officer (CFFO) or Equivalent Indirect- NoneWorking Conditions:Five (5) eight (8) hour shifts over the course of a seven (7) day work weekOther arrangements as necessary to meet the needs of District 87Represent the district on short notice when emergency repairs or projects require working hours other than the standardResponds to emergency calls on evenings, weekends and holidaysWorks with constant physical laborSubject to slips and falls on wet pavements and snow-covered surfacesSubject to serious cuts, bumps, eye injuries, falls, burns and bruises from using equipment and materialsWorks indoors and outdoors under a variety of environmental conditions, including extreme temperature changes, changes in lighting, excessive noise, high humidity and tight space conditionsSubject to toxic, corrosive and flammable materialsReceive and initiate communication to interact with both internal and external customers on a frequent basisReports ToChief Financial and Facilities Officer or equivalentJob SummaryAs a working maintenance supervisor, plan the daily work schedules of all maintenance to ensure a safe environment within all buildings. This includes a strong preventative maintenance program for all equipment and systems within the district and a customer-focused work order system with quantifiable metrics. In addition, it is a requirement of the position to include detailed documentation on all work done. This includes, but is not limited to, scheduled work order requests, scheduled preventative maintenance, emergency service calls and routine building inspections.FLSA Status: Exempt Updated August 2026
