Functional Consultant

JOB DESCRIPTION

Insight Global is seeking a Functional Consultant to support IBM Maximo implementations for a utility client, with a strong focus on functional solutioning, workshop facilitation, and documentation. This role supports an ongoing enterprise asset management transformation within a large, multi-vendor environment and will work closely with senior consultants to assess current-state systems, define future-state processes, and develop implementation roadmaps. The consultant will actively participate in and help lead client workshops, gather and refine business requirements, and produce high-quality functional design documentation (BRDs, FDDs, process flows) that guide the overall Maximo solution. This is not a hands-on development role, rather, it is centered on translating business needs into structured functional solutions, contributing to how facilities and processes are set up within Maximo, and supporting the overall design and planning of the system. The role requires a strategic mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex, stakeholder-heavy environment with leadership support and oversight. This is a fully remote contract position with the expectation to work in EST.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 7+ years of experience as a Functional Consultant, Business Systems Analyst or related role

• Strong experience gathering requirements, running workshops, and producing documentation (BRDs, FDDs, process flows)

• 5+ years of experience with IBM Maximo (implementations or integrations)

• Background in utilities or energy industry

• Strong understanding of functional solution design (no hands-on development)

• Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments Soft skills:

• Ability to participate in and help lead client workshops and assessments

• Experience supporting solution planning and roadmap development

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working within large, multi-vendor project environments
