Job Description

Position Summary: Experienced electrical engineer supporting design, development, integration, qualification, and lifecycle support of complex electrical systems used in semiconductor automation equipment, including robotic handling systems, Vacuum platforms, and associated electrical controllers. Participate in electrical design activities from concept through production release while supporting manufacturing, field service, quality, and customer escalations.

Our Opportunity: We are looking for an enthusiastic Electrical Engineer, eager to integrate into our culture and be a key team contributor. This engineer will work with a team in the development of robot and automation system controls solutions and engage in analyses of complex field and manufacturing challenges. Key responsibilities will include working with a team on PCB designs for systems, robot controllers, and developing Engineering Design Specifications. Work will include technical presentations and cross-functional issue resolution. Responsible for ensuring proper documentation, consistent use of processes and systems, and engineering design standards are followed. Must be capable of working collaboratively with mechanical and software engineers on complete product solutions.

In a typical week, the priorities for the individual and the team are defined in our on-line project system. Long-term development projects will progress, a question or issue may arise from a customer or from our operations team requiring a quick investigation and response, input at multiple design reviews may be given, and hands on prototyping or testing may be done in our labs.

Key Responsibilities

Sustaining Engineering

• Diagnose and resolve electrical issues in existing products, including component obsolescence, field failures, and manufacturing challenges.

• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.

• Evaluate failure trends, collect and organize data, provide recommendations to mitigate risks, and implement long-term solutions.

• Support analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit boards using microcontrollers, embedded processors, memory devices, power-management circuits, sensor interfaces, and communication transceivers.

• Support electrical hardware architectures for robotic motion control, EFEM subsystems, vacuum controls, safety circuits, power distribution, and equipment interlocks.

• Familiar with serial communication interfaces, such as EtherCAT, TCP/IP, UDP, RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485, knowledgeable about CAN , DeviceNet, EtherCAT, and Modbus, as applicable to the product architecture.

• Create electrical schematics, PCB design documentation, cable assemblies, wiring diagrams, bills of material, and system interconnect documentation using established ECAD and product-lifecycle processes.

• Perform component selection, derating, design-for-manufacturability, design-for-test, component-obsolescence reviews, and design-verification testing.

• Lead circuit-board bring-up, subsystem integration, system build support, troubleshooting, and validation during development and production.

• Diagnose complex controller, power, communication, sensor, motion-control, grounding, and signal-integrity issues at board, cable, subsystem, and system levels.

• Conduct failure analysis and root-cause investigations on returned electrical controllers and field failures using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, electronic loads, power supplies, and other laboratory equipment.

• Document failure mechanisms, containment actions, corrective actions, and recommended design or process improvements to improve reliability and customer satisfaction.

• Collaborate with firmware, software, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, quality, supplier, and field-service teams to deliver robust semiconductor automation solutions.

• Support customer escalations by analyzing system logs and hardware evidence, reproducing failures when practical, and communicating technically sound recommendations.

• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, FMEA activities, engineering change control, verification planning, and product-release processes.

• Mentor junior engineers and technicians, provide technical guidance, and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and troubleshooting practices.

Technical Competencies

• Circuit-board schematic design and PCB development for embedded control applications.

• Microcontroller- and processor-based hardware design, board bring-up, and debugging.

• Ethernet, serial, and industrial communication interfaces and protocols.

• Cable assembly, harness, grounding, shielding, and system interconnect design.

• Robotics, motion-control, EFEM, vacuum-system, sensor, and semiconductor-equipment controls.

• Power distribution, signal integrity, EMC/EMI, environmental qualification, and reliability considerations.

• Failure Analysis (FA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), corrective action, and returned-material investigation.

• Electrical troubleshooting, system integration, manufacturing support, and customer-facing technical communication.

• Technical documentation, design reviews, engineering change control, and cross-functional project execution.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 5+ years of experience, or MSEE with 3+ years of experience

• Progressive experience developing embedded electrical hardware, automation equipment, robotics, semiconductor capital equipment, or similarly complex electromechanical systems.

• Experience with schematic-capture and PCB-design tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or Cadence.

• Hands-on proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, digital multimeters, power supplies, and electronic loads.

• Ability to independently own moderately complex designs, troubleshoot cross-disciplinary system issues, and communicate results clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

• Experience working within structured product-development, configuration-control, quality, and regulatory-compliance processes is preferred.

Compensation
Base Salary Range: $105,593.46 USD to $142,861.74 USD

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
