Senior Financial Analyst

Job Title

Pay Rate: $60 - $70 per hour

Location: Oakland, CA

Duration: 6 Months

Responsibilities:

• Perform analysis on complex data models, requiring customized reporting and data interpretation.
• Develop and apply metrics to generate recommendations related to business strategy and investment decisions; present findings to leadership.
• Conduct portfolio-level analysis of capital investment plans, including evaluation of cost, risk, and benefit tradeoffs.
• Support development and refinement of multi-year investment scenarios under varying financial constraints.
• Translate optimization outputs into clear, actionable insights that inform investment decisions.
• Connect analytical results to financial envelopes, funding constraints, and executive decision-making needs.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to align inputs and assumptions, and assist in the reporting of financial and operational metrics.
• Develop and maintain portfolio dashboards, reports, and analytical tools.
• Perform data validation and QA/QC to ensure accuracy, consistency, and auditability of outputs.
• Support executive-level reporting, scenario comparisons, and governance reviews.
• Analyze current processes to identify and implement automation and efficiency opportunities.
• Provide decision support to senior management in the creation of financial and operational metrics and reports.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, capital planning, portfolio analysis, investment decision support, or related experience.
• Strong understanding of financial structures (cost, risk, benefits) and investment tradeoffs under constraints.
• Experience with capital planning and enterprise systems (SAP preferred; exposure to Copperleaf, Foundry, or similar tools a plus).
• Strong Excel and Power BI skills for modeling, analysis, and portfolio-level reporting.
• Ability to work with large, complex datasets and connect outputs to financial and planning decisions.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in utility, energy, or regulated infrastructure environments.
• Familiarity with portfolio optimization and scenario modeling tools (e.g., Copperleaf).
• Proven ability to translate complex analytical outputs into clear, decision-ready insights.
• Strong communication skills, with experience supporting leadership-facing deliverables.
• Detail-oriented with focus on data quality, consistency, and auditability.
• Broad knowledge of analytical methods, modeling approaches, and problem-solving techniques.
