Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000

A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant's education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.

The Assistant Dean for Development and Alumni Relations for the College of Education and Human Development, reporting to the Associate Vice President of Development and the Dean of the College of Education and Human Development, will manage fundraising within the College. This person must be adept at cultivating and managing relationships with new and prospective donors. Familiarity with the major gift solicitation cycle of identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding those with capacity for gifts of $50,000 and higher. The individual will work closely with Institutional Advancement central operations in aligning unit-based priorities with those of institutional leadership.

The Assistant Dean will manage the College's Board of Visitors (BOV), including recruiting new BOV members, directing the focus of the BOV and executing regularly scheduled meetings of the BOV. The Assistant Dean will serve on the Dean's administrative leadership team and will create and implement strategies designed to support the funding of the College's priorities. The individual will interact with senior staff and faculty in the school as well as other colleagues throughout Temple University. In addition, the Assistant Dean will manage the College's development and alumni relations staff which currently includes a development associate and a major gift officer.

This person must be a highly energetic, organized, and enthusiastic professional with a track record of building donor relationships, working collaboratively and strategically, with a strong knowledge of principles, ethics and practices of successful fundraising in a large, decentralized organization.

Travel Disclosure: Willingness and ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally to cultivate, solicit and steward donors, engage alumni and stakeholders, attend fundraising events, and advance the college and university's fundraising and strategic priorities including nights and weekends.

Job Details

Required Education and Experience

* Bachelor's degree and at least seven years of related experience required.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience

* Higher/education fundraising experience with a proven track record of closing six and seven figure gifts preferred.

* Experience fundraising for a capital campaign.

Required Skills and Abilities

* Experience working in a fast-paced work environment as well as motivating and managing individuals for maximum performance.

* Excellent interpersonal skills are required with the ability to interact with a diverse group of constituents both inside and outside the university.

* Knowledge of planned giving techniques and the programs available to implement such gifts.

* Entrepreneurial skills in identifying donors, cultivating meaningful relationships, and facilitating gifts.

* Demonstrated creativity and strategic thinking with the ability to take initiative and the willingness to learn.

* Ability to make policy decisions when necessary, multi-task, set priorities, adapt to changes and meet deadlines.

* Willingness and ability to travel locally, regionally, and throughout the assigned territory to cultivate and steward donor relationships, attend fundraising events, and represent the organization, including nights and weekends.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
