Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including, but not limited to, IV's, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections. Thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records.Document ongoing status, interventions, patient response and outcomes in an accurate, timely manner. Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making.Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health and safety and rights of each patient. We staff an intensivist 24 hours per day, we care for a wide range of patients from sepsis, COPD exacerbation, respiratory distress, pneumonia, heat failure, GI bleed, renal failure and overdose. We take care of patients with art lines, central lines, intubations, procedures and telemetry monitoring for floor patients as well. We occasionally receive over flow from the med/surg floor if they are full. We are on a mission to provide the best care for all patients, from pediatrics to geriatrics and all those in between. Individuals might want to join our department because we are known for our collaborative teamwork. We are more of a family than co-workers. The employees support one another and never leave anyone behind. We can self-schedule and have a chance to develop a multitude of skills. There is a variety of personalities on our unit because that allows us to provide the best care to each patient individually.St. Catherine Hospital, located in Garden City, Kansas, was founded by two pioneering physicians and the Dominican Sisters.
