Position Overview

The School Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for conducting student evaluations, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing speech-language therapy services in accordance with each student's plan of care. The SLP will document services, monitor progress, and collaborate with school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student achievement and communication development.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations

• Develop and implement individualized therapy plans

• Provide direct and indirect speech-language services to students

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services

• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaboration

• Consult with teachers, administrators, and families regarding student progress

• Monitor outcomes and adjust interventions as needed

• Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations

Qualifications

Required:

• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Speech-Language Pathologist Endorsement

• Active Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) licensure in the state of Illinois

• Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age

Preferred:

• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology ( CCC-SLP )

• Previous school-based or pediatric experience

• Knowledge of IEP processes and special education services

• Current CPR certification (if applicable)

• Current health certificate, TB screening, PPD, or chest x-ray as required by state or contract regulations

• Commitment to professional standards of practice
