Job Title

Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown

Location

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13- or 18-week options available) | Nights | 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on an Advanced Care/Cardiac Stepdown unit managing typical diagnoses including heart failure, chest pain rule-out, NSTEMI, post-procedure recovery, COPD exacerbation, and drug/ETOH overdose and withdrawal
• Manage and titrate IV drips including heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, and insulin; competency in IV starts required
• Read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips and telemetry; EKG/Dysrhythmia competency assessment must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
• Maintain targeted patient ratios of 1:5–6 and support a unit with a daily average census of 31
• Float within specialty clusters or to other nearby campuses as directed, including potential float to the ED to care for boarders; travelers are first to float
• Maintain availability to work every other weekend and every other holiday

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (any active state license or compact license accepted)
• Stepdown (SD) or PCU experience required — must reflect a 1:5 patient ratio in work history; ICU experience does not substitute for SD/PCU experience at this facility
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience
• BLS and NIH Stroke Scale certification required; ACLS preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience
• Experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 facility
• ACLS certification
